Basilicata: the nitrogen deficit that wasn’t

Surface sampling called for more nitrogen. The 5D engine found a stable baseline, and a compaction risk nobody had seen from above.

What the surface said

Standard surface observations read a severe, widespread nitrogen deficiency across the site. On that reading, the fertiliser budget would have gone straight to nitrogen.

What the 5D engine found

Validated against ground truth, our system corrected the deficit: a highly stable 1.11 g/kg nitrogen maintenance baseline.

It also caught what the nitrogen reading never would have: a massive clay concentration of 41–45%, flagging severe aeration and compaction risks invisible from above.

Blind spots the surface never showed.

The operational pivot

Wasted fertiliser capital was eliminated. The budget was redirected to the work the soil actually needed: deep-ripping and soil aeration.
